How to use neem oil

SKINCARE Dilute Neem oil with a carrier oil (such as coconut oil or olive oil) and apply it directly to the skin. This can help soothe skin irritations, acne, or other skin conditions. Conduct a patch test before applying it to larger areas of the skin.

HAIR AND SCALP TREATMENT Mix neem oil with a carrier oil and massage it into the scalp to promote a healthy scalp and address issues like dandruff or dryness. Leave it on for a period of time before washing it out with shampoo.

ORAL HYGIENE Neem oil can be used for oil pulling, a traditional Ayurvedic practice for oral health. Add a few drops of neem oil to warm water, swish it around in your mouth for a few minutes, and then spit it out. Be cautious not to swallow the oil.

FUSHI TOP TIP:

Neem oil is highly potent, so it's important to dilute it with a carrier oil before applying it to your face, mix 3-4 drops of neem oil with 1 tablespoon of the carrier oil of your choice.

Neem oil is a versatile natural product that finds numerous applications due to its beneficial properties. It is primarily used in various industries for its insecticidal properties, serving as an effective organic pesticide. Neem oil repels and disrupts the life cycle of many pests, including aphids, mites, whiteflies, and caterpillars, making it a popular choice for organic gardening and agriculture. Additionally, neem oil possesses antifungal properties and is used to control and prevent fungal infections in plants. Apart from its applications in horticulture, neem oil is utilized in traditional medicine for its antiseptic, anti-inflammatory, and moisturizing qualities. It can be found in skincare products, soaps, shampoos, and lotions, offering benefits for various skin conditions such as acne, eczema, and psoriasis. Prepare the neem oil mixture: Mix pure neem oil with a carrier oil, such as coconut oil or olive oil, in a ratio of 1 part neem oil to 10 parts carrier oil. This dilution helps to prevent skin irritation. Apply the mixture to the scalp: Gently massage the neem oil mixture onto the scalp, ensuring that it covers the entire scalp and hair roots. Pay extra attention to the areas where lice and nits (lice eggs) are commonly found, such as the back of the neck and behind the ears. Cover the head: Put on a shower cap or wrap a towel around the head to keep the neem oil mixture in place and to prevent staining of fabrics. Leave it on overnight: Allow the neem oil mixture to stay on the scalp and hair overnight. This gives the oil enough time to suffocate the lice and disrupt their life cycle. Comb out the lice and nits: In the morning, use a fine-toothed lice comb to carefully comb through the hair, removing dead lice and nits. Start from the roots and comb all the way to the ends of the hair strands. Wipe the comb on a paper towel or rinse it in warm, soapy water after each stroke to prevent re-infestation. Shampoo and rinse: Wash the hair thoroughly with a mild shampoo to remove the neem oil and any remaining lice or nits. Repeat the treatment: To ensure complete eradication of lice, repeat the neem oil treatment and combing process every 5 to 7 days for a few weeks. This helps to target newly hatched lice that may have survived the initial treatment. Take preventive measures: To prevent re-infestation, wash bedding, clothing, and personal items that may have come into contact with lice in hot water and dry them on high heat. Vacuum upholstered furniture and car seats, and seal non-washable items in plastic bags for a few weeks. It's important to note that while neem oil can be an effective natural remedy for head lice, it may not eliminate all lice and nits with a single treatment. If the infestation persists or becomes severe, it is advisable to consult a healthcare professional or a licensed pharmacist for further guidance and treatment... Read more
